A young man in his 20s plunged a Jet2 flight into chaos as it was forced to divert on its route from Glasgow Airport when he reportedly became aggressive towards cabin crew and fellow passengers.

The holiday flight left for Tenerife around 4pm on Wednesday (June 12) and pandemonium broke out mid-air. Allegedly, the passenger turned violent, causing several onboard to restrain him, ensuring the safe landing of the plane at Shannon Airport, Ireland where police swiftly boarded to arrest him.

He is currently being held in custody by Garda officers, who are looking into the incident. A Garda spokesperson said: “Garda attached to Shannon Airport arrested a man, aged in his 20s, following an incident on board an aircraft that diverted to Shannon Airport yesterday evening Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at approximately 5.30pm.”
