Lady Macbeth
Deadline reports a film adaptation of Ava Reid’s novel Lady Macbeth is now in development with Kari Skogland (The Handmaid’s Tale) attached to direct. Written for the screen by Oscar nominee Emma Donoghue (Room), the “gothic feminist retelling” of Shakespeare’s play “reimagines one of literature’s most enduring figures through a dark, intimate lens, following a young noblewoman thrust into a politically arranged marriage in a brutal medieval world. As she navigates survival, power, and identity within a system designed to constrain her, her transformation unfolds into a portrait of ambition, resilience, and consequence.”
Thud
Deadline also reports Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rudy Pankow will star in Thud, a “supernatural romance” from director Mali Elfman. Based on an original script by Noga Pnueli (Meet Cute), the story bears witness as the Grim Reaper (Gellar) and the Devil (Pankow) “meet cute at a three-day destination wedding, falling in love after colliding at the event, where they’ve each come to sow their own chaos.”
The Mummy 4
During his recent appearance at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival (via Variety), actor John Hannah appeared to confirm both Arnold Vosloo (Imhotep) and Kevin J. O’Connor (Beni) will also (somehow) be returning for The Mummy 4.
You’ve heard all the rumors and it’s true. Everyone’s back. There will be some surprises. Arnold [Vosloo], who I’m still big pals with, and my other favorite: Kevin J. O’Connor. He’s a fantastic actor. Funnily enough, we went to this convention recently and this guy came up to us. He was wearing a mask. He asked if Kevin J. O’Connor was there as well, I said no, and then he took off his mask. It was Kevin. I gave Brendan [Fraser] a shout out, he came over and everybody was hugging Kevin. Later, he joined us on the panel. Kevin had kind of fallen off the path a little bit; he’d gone home to look after his father towards the end of his life. But then we found him again. Brendan had sort of whispered in my ear previously about the potential of this happening and it wasn’t long after that that official contact was made.
Black Diamond
Variety reports Fangoria Studios and Panick Entertainment are teaming with director Ernest Dickerson (Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight) on a film adaptation of the folk horror comic book, Black Diamond. Written for the screen by series’ creator Brendan Columbus, the film will follow “Owen and Victoria Welch on a family ski trip that spirals into a nightmare. When their son is abducted by a mysterious cult, the couple is pushed to the brink and faced with a soul-crushing ultimatum: sacrifice another child or lose their own forever.”
The Pools
According to Screen Rant, a film based on the liminal space horror video game, The Pools, is already scheduled for release on December 25, 2026, through Rebel Raider Media and Grytt Picture Shows. Said to be “inspired by the growing popularity of liminal spaces and internet folklore surrounding vast, unexplained environments,” the film will follow “a teenager trapped inside a seemingly endless aquatic labyrinth of swimming pools, towering waterslides, flooded corridors, and impossible architecture. As he ventures deeper into the surreal liminal maze and reality itself begins to unravel, a mysterious creature stalks him from beneath the water, forcing him to find a way out before he disappears forever.”
Toy Story 6
Speaking with Screen Rant, Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton answered “I think that’s the pattern” when asked if there were plans in place for a Toy Story 6.
So hopefully, I think that’s the pattern, if it keeps going. So I always knew that there was a natural possibility to just follow Bonnie, and just follow her life, and just see what happens to the toys if it keeps going. So there was always that seed. It’s like a series that doesn’t know it’s going to get picked up for the next season. We’d always end it like it could end here, but we’ve passed the badge on from Woody to Jessie at the end of 4, just in case it keeps going. So it’s always been that kind of mindset.
Dinosaurs of the Wild West
Luke Sparke, director of the dinosaurs in Vietnam movie, Primitive War, has released a teaser for his next project: Dinosaurs of the Wild West.
Untitled Jimmy Olsen/Gorilla Grodd Series
In conversation with the Good Nerd at Supergirl‘s Brazilian premiere, Peter Safran revealed the Gorilla Grodd TV series begins filming later this year.
We’ve talked about the Gorilla Grodd show, which we’ll start shooting this year. That’s big news by the way. I probably shouldn’t have said that.
